At ETH Denver Eureka John had the chance to sit down with friend and fellow Crypto Sapiens Host Donny Clutterbuck along with Digital Artist Swayze from Fomojis. Donny and Swayze dive pretty deep into the significance of Fomojis and recursive of inscriptions as well as how the BTC ecosystem has many other use cases besides being just a "boring chain for finance use cases".
Fomojis is an NFT based on Bitcoin's Ordinals. Fomojis 2.0 collection made heavy use of recursive inscriptions to minimise the size of of our inscriptions as much as possible.
A recursive inscription is any inscription that references another inscription. This is done in HTML/Javascript inscriptions by retrieving the content of another inscription. We are using this to construct each image based on its traits.
Put simply, each inscription is not actually an image, but instead a HTML file which retrieves each indivdual trait and layers them on top of each other to create the final image. Because of this, the traits are just inscribed once, and reused many times, which saves block space. HTML files are many times smaller than images, improving the efficiency of the inscriptions enormously.
